    Sound issue..

    Hi , this is a very annoying situation, i have installed mplayer and i can't hear anything, but when i disable the sounds events ( of gnom) everything goes fine, i also use xmms and with this one i don't have to desable sonds events of gnome .is there anything i can do for this ? thank you all .

    you might make sure mplayer is using alsa. If I recall correctly, oss doesn't two programs to control sound at one time.

    Maybe ESD is blocking the sound output, try changin MPlayer to -ao esd
