    DVD-RW not being rcognized

    I am using debian sid.
I have a DVD-ROM as well as a DVD-RW. DVD-ROM is working fine(auto mounting and everything) but my DVD-RW is not working the same as my DVD-ROM. Is there something i need to do to my fSTAB so that my DVD-RW also works in the same way as my DVD-ROM(auto mounting and everything).

I have the same problem I put a cd drive in fstab and a false cdrom1 shows up..When I put a cd in the drive it loads mounts and shows the directory. Whats relly frustrating when synaptic asks for a cd in a package install it wants it in the false drive and ignores the real drive. Deleting the entry in fstab doesnt work either..

I found the solution to my problem.
Actually my drive itself was not detected by my motherboard. So wat i did was change my jumper settings. I put one of my drive as the master and the other as the slave. Then the drives got detected perfectly and now i dont have any problem
