    Unhappy MP3 in Amarok

    Hello,
That's my another problem with Debian Experimental. Since yesterday I've been trying to listen to last.fm in Amarok. It worked with packages from Unstable but crashed randomly (20% chance of proper startup). Amarok became more stable when I upgraded the package to Expetimental, but the mp3 decoder has gone
Does anyone know if Amarok in Debian is going to support mp3 again? If not, where can I get non-free packages for it?

    GStreamer is what you need.
    That's my two pence worth.

Well it does, given you have the proper codecs installed.

If Gstreamer is the Amarok engine you are using, then install install the proper codecs, which is called gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly I believe (as well as others like gstreamer0.10-plugins-really-bad, gstreamer0.10-plugins-good, etc.).

Codecs are available from the non-free repository, as well as from Christian Marillat's one.

If you are using Xine as the Amarok's output engine, then install the proper Xine codecs for it (namely w32codecs).

    GStreamer

Actually, I have gstreamer installed but it doesn't show up in Amarok's engine list...
That's my output from dpkg --list *gstreamer*
    Code:
ii gstreamer0.10-alsa 0.10.12-1 GStreamer plugin for ALSA
un gstreamer0.10-audiosink <brak> (brak dostępnego opisu)
un gstreamer0.10-colorspace <brak> (brak dostępnego opisu)
un gstreamer0.10-plugins <brak> (brak dostępnego opisu)
ii gstreamer0.10-plugins-base 0.10.12-1 GStreamer plugins from the "base" set
ii gstreamer0.10-plugins-base-apps 0.10.12-1 GStreamer helper programs from the "base" set
ii gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly 0.10.5-1 GStreamer plugins from the "ugly" set
ii gstreamer0.10-tools 0.10.12-1 Tools for use with GStreamer
ii libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-0 0.10.12-1 GStreamer libraries from the "base" set
ii libgstreamer0.10-0 0.10.12-1 Core GStreamer libraries and elements
And I cannot use w32codecs, my system is not 32... Please help!

apt-get install amarok-xine (xine engine is in my opinion the best)
and you can use the w32codecs on your 64 bit system/installation

you could try a dpkg-reconfigure amarok as well to get gstreamer working

    lg
