Proxy / Firewall Ip Address setting

    hi ppl,

I haven't a clue about Linux but and trying to fix something in Hobbit :P

I have a command line Debian Linux install and I recently updated it with patches from the web after I manually added my firewall proxy details + user/password in apt.conf.

Now I simply need to connect to the internet to ping some sites, which is not happening.

Can some one please tell me where else I need to put this proxy setting + user/password so that I can connect to the internet.

    thanks alot,
    impee.

Proxy / Firewall Ip Address setting

either no one knows or aren't bothered to tell me.

    I've found the solution myself...

    PHP Code:
    export http_proxy=http://username:pass@proxy:port/
    impee.
