Xserver will not start...
i have been trying to figure out a way to start Xserver in Sarge (XFree86) without having my USB mouse connected and no monitor. When i boot without the USB mouse Xserver cannot start. i've tried removing the 'CorePointer' parts from the XF86Config-4 file but it didn't make a difference.
When the mouse is plugged in i can boot up and login just fine.
So, is there any way to get my Debian system (a server) to bootup without anything connected to it but a HUB?
Also, is there a way to run Fluxbox remotely on that server? (It's installed on both computers)

why do you need X on a server?

Yea really... If it's a server and you don't have a monitor on it why do you need xwindows or any GUI for that matter?

Xserver start
I think if you just define a generic mouse it should work. Haven't done this on Sarge
specifically but all my redhat/fedoras do fine with no mouse attached. As far as the other
replies, I use X on servers cause sometimes its just easier to configure if you are new
to a distribution. You can do it through VNC. Does the server have any serial or ps2 ports?

i guess i don't really care if X doesn't start as long as i can run Fluxbox remotely.
i want to run Fluxbox remotely to configure the server and other things. It's fast and easier to do then just using the command line. Is this possible through VCN? i've been trying to start X through VCN but no go. i have a lot of reading to do on this. Thanks for the help.
There are no Serial Ports on the server. There are two ps2 ports. The usual mouse and keyboard ones. When i plugged a mouse into the ps2 port it didn't operate when X was running. X did not start with the ps2 mouse plugged in.
