    Internet problems

I've been having problems getting the wireless card on my Dell laptop to work but have always been able to get on the internet by running a network cable from the computer to my wireless router. Yesterday, however, the internet stopped working with the cable. Ifconfig says I have a good connection and the laptop has been assigned an IP address. I have Gnome NetworkManager which says I am connected but the browser won't pick up web pages.

Any ideas on what I should try? Thanks, Mike

    Hi,

Check your /etc/resolv.conf if there are your correct DNS addresses, also check your gateway address. Same happened to me when my wireless interface was changing all these settings all the time.

    The file contained this info

    nameserver 123.456.78.9
    nameserver 123.456.78.9

Same IP listed twice. Not the correct DNS. So I changed them both to the correct address but am still having the same problem. Anything else I should try?

    Thanks, Mike
