Need help configuring Etch

Hello. I recently installed etch on my computer, and I'm having some configuration problems. First, when I add an new user via KUser, I cannot login at the kdm login window, but it works through the Konsole and and tty. If I try adduser it automatically logs in without asking for password and starts gnome. Second problem seems to be SDL related. Every time I start a game that uses SDL sound crackles. I have libsdl-1.2-alsa and a IHC5 Intel on-board audio.

read the man page of adduser

you can set up the password when you are creating a new user

or set up a password for the user by manually with passwd command

#>passwd username

The password is already set, and I can log in Konsole. Could it be kdm related?

Make sure the new user you created is a member of the required groups for GUI usage (video, audio, and the likes).
