Connecting Freespire to a Windows Network

I´ve been playing with Linux for the first time over the last few days and finally found a distro that I like, in terms of being relatively fathomable.

I settled on Freespire 1.0.13 which is installed on an Athlon XP2600+ PC with 512Mb RAM. I initially connected to the internet via a wired connection to my Netgear DG834G router but have since changed to a [U]wireless[U] connection to the same router.

However, connecting the Linux PC to my Windows-based Wireless Network is driving me to distraction.

The problem is that although my other PCs, running WinXP Home and Pro, can see the Linux PC over the Network, I am unable to make the Linux PC see the Windows network, even with the firewalls switched off.

However, I have successfully sent a large video file from my WinXP Home Laptop to the Linux PC, so the connection works from Windows to Network to Linux, but I cannot browse the Network from the Linux PC.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

windows machines are using the ports 135-139 to see each others so you must open these ports on the firewall.
