No Internet Programs Working Besides Konqueror.

Recently I installed Kubuntu over an Windows XP installation after running it on VMware for a few months.

Everything is working fine except no programs can connect to the internet except Konqueror, this includes adept, Firefox (loads webpages indefinetly), Thunderbird (downloads new messages indefinetly), ect...

Naturally this is a major problem for me.

I can't understand why it's doing it because Windows XP always connected perfectly and Kubuntu running on VMware didn't have any problems either.

Anybody have any idea what could be causing this?

Bizarre. Have you checked all the proxies and everything match up?

Can you ping google or resolve hostnames ('host google.com')?

OK I wiped Kubuntu and put PCLinuxOS on.
    Works fine now.

That's extremely unlikely to have caused it... I have no idea.
