Beryl + Sarge
I've been researching for 2 day's now about the Beryl project, i'm very interested in giving it a try but it seems like it only installs on Etch. I'm using 3.1r1 sarge, has anyone tryed to install beryl on this version or is it even possible?

I guess it would be possible, but you'll have to compile Beryl manualy.
Also, you will need either AIGLX (so Xorg 7.1 and up) or XGL for it to run. Neither exist for Sarge, so you will have to compile the one of your choice manualy.
It would be a lot of work, so why not just upgrade to Etch?
Once you have Etch running, it is very easy to setup Beryl:

I'm going to give it a try manually and see if it works. To be 100% honest with you I don't want to run Etch, I have an HP xw9300 with Etch and this dell server with sarge, I perfer the sarge much better might be due to i've been using it longer but still and all id rather not go Etch route.

I don't know how much it matters, but Sarge uses XFree whereas AFAIK all instructions for installing Beryl assume Xorg.
