    Trouble with isolinux?

I recently downloaded the DVD ISOs for "Etch", burned them and attempted to boot - nothing happened. I am running an AMD64 on an ASUS 754 (K8V-X). I have the latest BIOS for this MOBO. I know that I can boot from isolinux because I can boot from Red Hat Fedora Core 2, and I can boot from Knoppix 5.1.1 (both on CD).

So, I then downloaded the CD version, decompressed, burned, booted - again, nothing. Then I burned it again at the slowest speed possible, and used data verification. Again, nothing. Aside from using the knoppix graphical interface a couple of times, and reading up, this will be my first Linux experience. I don't want to go with Red Hat, because I want to learn as much as possible as I go. Can anyone offer an explanation? Has anyone else had this problem?

you could try downloading the basic cd and running that. its a lot lighter weight and downloads all the extrastuff online as it goes, i think its less liable to glitches.

Debian -- Network install from a minimal CD

    good luck.

You say you have burned the isolinux but did you burn it as bootable.
The ISO needs to be converted to a bootable image.
