[SOLVED] Says update is already running, its not.

recently did a recommended update, at the end i was told i was updating an existing kernel. Since then i've had error messages on boot and am unable to run updates as i get a message that an instance is already running. Only been running Debian about two weeks but really dont want to do yet another reinstall!

post error message here. execute 'dmesg | less' or press Scroll Lock during boot up.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
