    Installing 40r0-i386-DVD-1.iso

I have Suse 10.2 and Ubuntu 7.04 installed in two other boxes. I googled the home Page, Documentation, etc. I still don't know if the installation has a graphical interface. I'm installing in entire 120GB disk. ASUS P4P800SE, Intel Pentium 4 'Prescott' 3.4GHZ, N7600GS video card. Is my hardware to be recognized? Will I have a graphical interface? What are the possible problems that I will encounter? Thank you in advance.

It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Thanks Casper. You know the Ubuntu 7.04 I had to install in another box occupying an entire disk before it worked. But, it worked! What about this one? Will it know where to install or you have to guide it at every step?

SuSe Installer is more interactive than Ubuntu. it gives a lot of choices. unlike Ubuntu, its a DVD or 5 CDs pack and KDE, GNOME and a lot of other DEs are available. you can select packages, DEs and GRUB location etc.
if simply click on next, next, next buttons, installer will wipe harddisk and install GNOME desktop in exactly same way like Ubuntu installer.

    DE is desktop environment.

I don't know about your video card, but I have the same motherboard and have never had any trouble with any distribution I've tried. They all allowed a GUI installation if the distro was supposed to do so.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I-m totally ignorant about Debian, so every little bit helps. Right now I-m trying the live CD of Debian and I-m writing to you from their Web Browser. In reality I-m rather new to Linux. I left Windblows about a month ago, and I-m not looking back. I've had Suse 10.2 and Ubuntu 7.04 installed in two other boxes. I don't like Ubuntu; it didn't recognized my CD-ROM and I find their package manager rather limited. So, I'm looking forward to the challenge of Debian, but there are so many choices that one gets lost. All I want is a good Desktop for my Home LAN and I want to be able to establish a ssh comm with my other computers to share files. What would you recommend as the choices for my installation? Thank you in advance. I have the 3 DVD isos.
