    VNC & Login Screen

Hi. I am hosting a vnc server on my Linux system. The vnc server program came with the distribution. I can view everything but the login screen from my windows XP computer. I get a connection refused error when i try an connect while the machine is at login. What should I do so when I'm not in a GNOME desktop I can still view the login screen from another computer?
