    Yet another xvinfo thread

    Howdy -
I am running debian etch on a 2.6.21.5 kernel. I have the most recent binary ATI drivers installed. I installed xine and mplayer from the standard rep.

It seems that using xv as my video driver in mplayer doesn't work. HOWEVER, IT WORKS PERFECTLY IN XINE!!! Whats even weirder is xvinfo returns the loathed:

    no adaptors present

It seems this was a pretty common occurance for users of XFree86 and non-official ATI drivers. WHich obviously is not my case.

    libxv1 is installed.
xmplayer -vo help | grep xv shows xv is compiled in
    xorg.conf has:
    Load "extmod" in Module section

I don't see why this is happening! My guess is its something to do with the ATI drivers because my other computers running etch work perfectly and have intel/nvidia cards. Any advice? Thanks.

It turns out this problem is specific to ATI. Modifying my googling let me to add:
    Option "VideoOverlay" "on"
    Option "OpenGLOverlay" "off"

to my xorg.conf under device. I hate when i post a problem and find the solution 5 minutes later.
