which audio and video files do I have to install?

Hi, I just installed Debian and would like to hear and watch different types of files both on the internet and on Totem Player. Can anybody direct me to a page or just tell me which files I have to download through apt-get to watch fx flash, mp3, avi, mpg, wmi and so on? My laziness has not yet lead me any further in this..

    w32codecs
    libxine1
    gstreamer

They are all in the repositories, someone else will be able to give you a more defined list or link to what you need.

    mplayer
    ffmpeg
    mozplugger

THis way you are not tied to Gnome, which isn't really a bad thing. Above post is appropriate for Totem, though. Don't forget ffmpeg. w32codecs are not necessary if using mplayer.
