Need help installing Debian Etch 40r0 on AMD64

    Hi there,
I´ve been using sarge distro for some months, but due to some indications, I´m moving to Etch.

Downloaded dvd images, burned them, and started the installation on a clean HD.
after choosing language and keyboard layout, i get the message saying that debian could not mount the cdrom.
Tried looking for additional drivers for my NEC DVD_RW ND-3540A with no success.

(ps. i have a raid0 with 3 hds on a nvidia stripe, where i use windows and sarge. but i´m installing etch on a single hd for now.)

So i come here asking for any help.

    Detailed system specs:
    DFI lanparty NF4 ultra->sli-D
    AMD64 4400 x2 939
    Geil ultra-x 2x512mb
    NEC DVD_RW ND-3540A

I'm not sure what could be wrong there, if you have a fast internet connection and don't mind downloading you can download the Debian netinstall CD image (which is about 180MB) if I'm not mistaken. Then install the base-system from that and then use apt-get and/or aptitude to install the rest of your system from online repositories, you end up with a much more customized system which runs faster and only has what you need .

Good luck, hope someone can provide some help for you.

If it's like the Ubuntu LiveCD you may have to burn at a low speed (16x) to get a good CD. If you try to burn at high speeds, the burn doesn't work.

same problem with netinstall cd =(

after choosing the keyboard layout, i get the error where the cdrom could not be mounted.. very odd problem indeed.

ps. i´ve burned with different drives and all of them at 8x speed for cd and 4x for dvd.

will try to disable raid and put a single hd.

    will post results at night.

and i appreciate your suggestions, keep´em coming
