SATA Tape Drive

Hi all

I have Linux Debian 2.4.27-2-386 booting from a SATA hard drive. I want to install a Quantum DLT-V4 tape drive. This drive also has a SATA interface.

But I cannot get it to work. What do I need to do ?

to be more specific..

The ST driver does not find the tape or attach any tape device nodes. The tape is attached to the second SATA port on the motherboard. Does the ST module work with a SATA tape drive ?

I am now using linux debian 2.6.18-4-686. Booting from ide drive with the tape in sata1. The tape does get picked up, BUT I get ATA: abnormal status 0x7F error, and I can't see a device name for the tape drive

well i am making progress. The tape is now showing up in the boot message.
