    Wink k3b not working

    Hi !

I installed through aptitude K3b; when I start it however, I got the error messages "mal formatted URL file:///home/domulus"
and "could not find mime type application/octet-stream"
The program then starts, but I canīt access any files, the file-browser just doesnīt show anything.

Where do I need to start looking in order to fix that ???
I started googling, but all hits bring back stuff they have only to do with either keyword (k3b OR url OR octet-stream OR mime type).
I think it is actually two problems which have nothing to do with each other, so I also searched for only one of the keywords at a time, but then the result-array gets to vast.

How do I narrow it down ?

Or does anybody know right away how to fix it ...??

    Thanks,

are you using KDE? if yes, press Alt+F2 and type kcontrol.
KDE Components -- File Associations. select applications and click on ADD button. type octet-stream.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

would have been a useful info, yes.... no, Iīm running Gnome. But now that you say it, Iīll change back. I used KDE before.

I tried to associate octet-string with K3b under Gnome, no luck however... didnīt find it.

Hope itīs easier to find in KDE.

Some burners that work pretty well in Gnome are:

    nautilus-cd-burner
    brasero
    gnomebaker
    graveman

...but not necessarily in that order.

I use aptitude..... most of the times. Rarely just apt-get; but k3b - that was with aptitude.
