    Hi and Welcome !

are you dual booting? try Disk Management Tool of Windows to delete partitions marked as Unknown. type diskmgmt.msc in RUN dialog of Windows to open Disk Management Tool.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

You should be able to boot the installation CD of
whatever OS you like and install. A Microsoft OS
will automatically install its own boot loader. Alternatively,
any Linux distro will also have a bootloader it will install.

GRUB is on the MBR of the hard drive now, but will
be overwritten when you install a new OS.
