I'm using a G3 iMac 500 w/ 256M of RAM and a 30g hard drive , and i want to install Debian. I went through the install , everything went smooth, made the correct partitions. The only thing is, when i boot, Ir tuns the scripts (Normal) and when it's finished, it shows a huge mas of jumbled pixels at the bottom of the screen. It chaged colors, and my cursor came on, did the little load animation, and froze. It stays like that for about 5 minutes, and then finally beeps and goes to the login screen. i type in my username, and then my pass, and press enter. It then freezes at the login screen. i come back half an hour later, and the desktop is half loaded, there is an error message but i can't see the titlebar. I said OK, let's try something else. I burn off i copy off Ubuntu, erase the hard drive, delete all of the partitions and pop in the Ubuntu CD. It shows the prompt where you type "live" to start the installation. i do that, and the screen turns white, then black, and shows the ubuntu logo with an orange status bar at the bottom. it finishes loading, and once again, I see the huge block of pixels at the bottom. after a while, i see a few icons, the top and bottom taskbars, and a window that doesn't have anything in it... My best guesses are that Either Steve Jobs hates me, or my iMac is haunted. Does anyone know what i'm doing wrong?
