Something like that but you actually need to configure some things before proceeding, which video card are you using? Did you already get 3D working?

I don't think your post answers my first question, which video card are you using?

Okay, well first you need to configure your video drivers. If you're using Nvidia, you'll need to go here: Techno Wizah: Debian HOW-TO : NVIDIA drivers; If you're using ATI, you'll need to go here: Techno Wizah: Debian HOW-TO : ATI drivers.

After that, I suggest using an install script that some guy made to help make things easier on us. You can find said script here: The Beryl Project • View topic - Beryl Setup/Installer

I too am using debian, and that's exactly how I am happily running beryl today.

If you have any questions about any of this, I'm happy to help you, so ask away.

Oh, and have you already installed Compiz? If so, you should look into uninstalling it, because from what I hear, Beryl and Compiz don't work so well together. Unless of course their merge changed that.

You need to use XGL not AIGLX assuming you already have the 3D acceleration working.
There are hundreds of tutorials out there
