Did your eee came with Debian pre-installed?
I eventually got it working last night, it seemed to work ok when I installed from a console program with apt-get install proftp ( I think, I was getting tired ! )
My pc came with Debian installed, this is the contents of my sources.list
Look ok to you ?Code:
deb http://update.eeepc.asus.com/p701/ p701 main
deb http://update.eeepc.asus.com/p701/en/ p701 main
deb http://download.tuxfamily.org/eeepcrepos/ p701 main etch
deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ etch main contrib
deb Index of /debian etch main contrib
Hmmm. You're using the Etch repository, while Lenny has became stable and Etch is now old stable.
It would probably be wise to switch to Lenny at some point in time, but make sure you do some research on how to that (on a Asus EEE), before you try.
I think I will leave it alone for the mo, spent too much time on it.
Out of interest would it just be a case of changing the word etch to lenny above or would the url need to change ?
