How to log a Named Pipe

Hi everybody please i need your Help,

I get a Homework, that i need to log a “Named Pipe” the time of the production, the production place in the file system and the user identification of the owner.

What i made i Compile first the Kernel with success, after it i enter in the file system and try to found wich file i will need.
but i found out that there are so many file.
i can use fifo.c or read_write.c or pipe.c

i really didn't know. please can someone help me? am i in the correct directory? which fonction i need?

Please help me?

I'm using Debian Linux-3.6.6 kernel
