Scanner copy to print problems

I have Debian 4.0 lenny, an epson 1200 scanner and HP5440 printer. The "copy" option (xsane) is supposed to copy to the printer. I have set up every thing with the queue that is named when I set up the printer. I just get errors. I believe the program is not finding the printer although I have no problem printing from Office. I have found this problem other places on the net, but no solution that worked for me.

This is a long shot but you could try setting up the printer using the 'hp-setup' command which is part of 'hplip' package. This'll create the queue again and is the recommended way to add an HP printer. Maybe it will setup the printer to work with xsane.
