I've got a Netgear WG511T card, and while it is able to detect the wireless networks wherever I go, I cannot seem to get an IP address on it. Could somebody tell me what I need to do to get an IP number via DHCP for my wireless card? My regular ethernet card works fine.
It's a problem in Knoppix's netcardconfig program.
There's a line in it that says as follows:
NETDEVICES="$(cat /proc/net/dev | awk -F: 'eth.:|tr.:|wlan.:/(print $1)')
I changed it to read
NETDEVICES="$(cat /proc/net/dev | awk -F: 'eth.:|tr.:|wlan.:|ath.:/(print $1)')
This allowed netcardconfig to detect my wireless card. Hopefully, it'll allow me to get DHCP info for my card now. Will have to test it next time I get back to a wireless network.
Well, I've tested it, and I ran DHClient, and it worked! So that's how you do it.
