I noticed you are using the driver "nv" it does not have hardware acceleration.

It worked fine for me. Even though 1024x768 doen't seem the real resolution (for me it looks like 900x700) now KDE Control Center let me choose screen resolution and refresh rate. I'm running 1280x1024 n.ow @ 60hz on a nvidia driver
