Hi guys,
I am very new to linux, in fact this is my first time trying to install it. I have set up a dual boot system running windows xp and debian linux 3.0. I have a problem when logging in an error message "I cannot start the x server"
I typed the /usr/X11R6/bin/xf86config and entered the setting of my computer to my best knowledge. However, this problem is still occuring.
I would love to post my log and configuration files but I am unsure how. I used vim to read the /var/log/XFree86.0.log but I am unsure of how to save/print this information as I am operating from a command line interface.
Would appreciate any help.
Thank you.

Hi. What graphics card are you using ? if you are using some ATI card I would recommend you download the ATI deriver for it.. You should also probably read this http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19561. You can make a copy of your log by
cat /var/log/XFree86.0.log > log

you need to post the full error message, this seems to be something a lot of people dont understand about xfree errors.. the actual error will have EE at the start of the line
