Pushing the dual monitors, or trying to at least...
So, I got the Fedora Core 2 installed (dual boot to xp, but i doubt thats related) and upgraded to the 2.6.6 kernel [2.6.6-1.435.2.3.i686]. I love my dualy monitor output on windows, and I had it working on fedora as well, just with my software video driver. I tried to get some 3d acceleration goin on by following the popular fglrx / patch / recompile routine using the original ATi drivers (even stuck with the 4.3.0-3.7.6 drivers even though 4.3.0-3.9.0 is the newest one). Problem is that now my 2nd monitor displays garbage. The garbage looks like it might be the proper video output (it changes in relation to the mouse when its over there) so i checked out my XFree86Config-4 setup (its linked to xforg.conf) and made sure all my monitor settings were good, and they look fine... problem now is I have no clue what to do next
I'm running a radeon 9800 pro, and the "ATi Control" utility identifies everything fine, but it does list my opengl renderer as "Mesa GLX indirect" which i believe is the old driver that was supposed to be replaced, maybe? i tried to insmod the fglrx.ko file but that didn't help... but that was kind of a shot in the dark... anyway, any help or just bright ideas in general would be greatly appreciated

quick update
i tried recompiling with the latest fglrx module as well and still no dice. Also, if i use Big Desktop mode (both monitors, one super wide desktop) i get video fine on both screens... but as soon as I try to divide them into their own desktops with dual head mode, thats when things get frizzled. lsmod and fglrxinfo both show that the correct module is installed, tux racer and chromium both prove that 3d acceleration is working
but thus far, im still out of any real ideas for getting the dual head mode working
