Nice panel? (I am Picky)
Its important that you all know first I am Picky. I dont want to have Compiz or Beryl. I also like to have a Lightweight system.
But I do want a Nice panel.
Like Avant (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...Comparison.png)
Id like to have instead of the Old-Classy Windows (I know they didnt invent it though they claim they did) Start Button on the left with the most used programs next from it.
Id like to have a Panel on the Middle of the screen that holds Catogorys of the programs I use the most but can also be used as Buttons to start programs.
I also like them to Glow or Get Solid (and are Transparant otherwise) when you get over them. I try to illustrate what I want to have. I want buttons eg one that looks like Earth. When I click it I want Firefox to start. But when I click something thats Attached to it (like a little arrow or something) I want a Menu to pop up that has Thunderbird, IRC, Pidgin, aMSN in it. since its the Internet Section.
I also like to to look Pretty, but not to heavy.
And ofcourse Id like it not to take half of my screen. Eg. Be transparant. And on the Top Dock so the web browser goes behind it.
I hope somebody can help this Picky individual..
Cheers,
Robin
(Id like to use xfce or Blackbox with it
, I use the XFCE4 menu for it now, but I cant get that on Top-Dock and ("real") Transparent)

Bumping time..
I thought of a way. But I aint sure if it can be done..
what about iDesk.. and on the right mouse button it will show a small <Custom> Openbox menu?
(In this way Id use Openbox as DE)
can something like that be done?
Cheers,

Not long back, I spent a couple of years playing around with various window managers and trying to find the perfect panel to go with them, but never was able to find it. I wound up using pypanel for the most part.

Thanks both..
Well pypanel is not what I look for. Since thats (not sure why its called pypanel) as taskbar...
I look for something with big icons..
That Crystal thingy looks rather intresting.. I might try to play with it one day..
Thanks both ^^
Anymore?
Cheers,
Robin

Maybe you'll want something similar to progman instead of having a panel?

So, what would that be?
Archaic-classy Windows?
