RPMs are built differently to Debs, so the procedure may be a bit different. On my openSUSE and CentOS installs, all I did was download the fontconfig source rpm for my distro and ran
    Code:
rpmbuild --rebuild $TARGET_OPT --with subpixel fontconfig-{VERSION}.src.rpm
I then install the resulting rpms like I would do any other rpm packages.
