GNOME in RedHat 8.0 Psyche is too sluggish, Please help

    Hi,
I recently installed RedHat Linux 8.0 (Psyche) on my computer. Vital Stats of my computer are: Celeron 466, 64 mb SDRAM, intel 810 chipset Mother board, Segate 10.2 GB HDD. The problem is that the GNOME is very slow. Other programs (even 3d games like Tux racer and chromium) are working fine and fast. I never had this problem with the earlier version of RedHat or for that matter with all other distros or Desktops I tried.

Can any one suggest some tweaks or resolution in this regard. The desktop look K ler than ever, but the slowness is killing intrest.
    Please help.

    Thanks

your problems would all be solved by an extra 256Mb of RAM.

That simple, and RAM isn't expensive these days. By friend has RH 8 running on a 500 Mhz chip of some description with 512Mb of RAM and all is OK.
