hello everyone
i had RedHat 8.0 installed with both desktops Gnome and Kde working fine
but today when i boot up in gnome.. the desktop icons are not there anymore ...

Where the desktop icons gone??? in Gnome
hello everyone
i had RedHat 8.0 installed with both desktops Gnome and Kde working fine
but today when i boot up in gnome.. the desktop icons are not there anymore + there is no context menu when i right click on desktop.
i just see my desktop wallpaper and the gnome task bar. everything else is also working fine.
the prob is just with gnome while kde is working fine too.
can anybody help me?

It would seem nautilus has somehow been turned off in the session. Not that I see how that would happen, but session management in GNOME2 is pretty complex, so something just might have gone wrong.
Try starting nautilus manually and see what happens. You can do this easily by selecting Home Folder from the apps menu. If the desktop icons still don't show up, check the preferences in nautilus so that they include that nautilus should draw the desktop.
