how to skip login process
hi friends,
is it possible to stop the login process .. without using single user mode .. because even auto login takes some time to fetch the default user name
but we try just booting -> entering home directory (where only single user) ..
like a machine which start booting directly to user without asking user login and password ..
is it any way to skip the login session including auto login .. ?
please help ..

Yes, but without more details about your setup no good advice can be given.
Debian GNU/Linux -- You know you want it.

Presumably you are using GDM or KDM, which are login managers. The first is used with GNOME, and often distros use it with XFCE, the second is used with KDE. For GDM, there should be an option under System or Administration or the like which says Login Window. Auto Login in Gnome - HowtoForge Forums | HowtoForge - Linux Howtos and Tutorials For KDM, it might vary between KDE3 and KDE4, but in KDE4, you can open system settings, hit the advanced settings tab, and you'll see an option for Login Manager. The autologin settings are under "Convenience".
