red hat 4.1.2 version (gui)
I've red hat version 4.1.2-42, how I would seethe gui interface, when I logged in just get a command prompt and have to use that. So do I have to install a gui or is therea command to run..please advise

I am not sure if up2date will work in 4.1.
Execute this at prompt :
Does above command list Gnome and KDE groups?Code:up2date --show-groups | more
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

actually my bad, it's version centos 5.2
and installing "x window system" the command is:
yum groupinstall "X Window System"
the installation is still running let you know if that works..thanks,
