Question GNOME 3 Cutomization to get GNOME 2 Features

    Hi,

Im using GNOME 2 on my PC for nearly four years and I'm addicted to that to be frank. But I think this is the time to make a move and decided to go for GNOME 3 on Fedora 20. Above all after installation I got the latest Fedora version as well as the GNOME 3 GUI.

Since I am a net admin, I want some shortcuts (mainly) like network connection ( ethernet not wireless ) on my top bar. But with the lated GNOME 3 environment the network connection displas only my local area connection is disconnected. I want it to appear continuously on my top bar. But the wirelles connection can be found after going through a drop down list .

If you all can help me out to customize my GNOME 3 it is greately appreciated.

N.B. I have installed gnome tweak tool also but it does not fulfil my requirement

You can add Gnome Tweak Tool and tweak it a bit to get it to look more to your liking or at least get some of the features of Gnome 2 going on with your Gnome 3 install. One thing that kept me from even looking at Gnome 3 for a long time was no Home or Trash folder on the desktop. With Tweak Tool I could put them on the Desktop and also create folders on the Desktop as well.
There are some other little tweaks that make Gnome 3 more useable for those of us who like the older Gnome 2/MATE style Desktops.

You might even see if you can install Gnome Classic Shell which will make Gnome 3 look just like Gnome 2.
No matter where ya' go, there ya' are.
