Word / Excel in Linux
Hi,
I am very new to Linux having always used Windows before. I was wondering is there anyway in Linux to at least view .xls and .doc files (word and excel) if not edit them.
Thanks for any assistance

I believe abiword in Gnome can view .doc files while another program (can't think of the name) can view .xls files. I do know for sure that installing open office programs will take care of this problem. Opne office is a MS office clone that is free. Try it out.

OpenOffice is kind of big, but if you want a MS Office clone, then that's the one; it provides almost any kind of functionality that you'd have in MS Office.
