    I only get command prompt

    Hi, Im a relative neewb (1 month) to linux, and have just reinstalled
    XFree86 in an attempt to get TV in working. I installed version 4.4.0
    because I didn't realise there was a 4.5 version. I am now stuck with
    a command promt. I would give u my error file if I knew how to get
    that. Please tell me how I can get the error file to this address. I
    am using a different computer so I also need to know how to copy this
    file to a floppy disk when I find it. Heres what I know about the
    computer:

    Fedora Core 3, on verything install and updated today
    Build operating system : Linux 2.4.18-14 i686
    Kernel 2.6.10-1.770_FC3
    ATI Rage 128 all in wonder pro 32mb
    PIII 450mhz
    20GB HD
    192mb ram

    After the descriptions of markers(eg (EE) (==) etc), here is the output:

    (==) Log file: "/var/log/XFree86.0.log", Time: Thu Mar 31 19:45:09 2005
    (EE) Unable to locate/open config file
    xf86AutoConfig : Primary PCI is 1:0
    Running "/usr/X11R6/bin/getconfig -X 40400000 -I /ect/X11,/usr/X11R6/etc
    getconfig.pl: Version 1.0.
    getconfig.pl:XFree86 Vresion: 4.4.0.0
    getconfig.pl: 23 built in rules

    -------------and so on for many more getconifg.pl, and then

    New driver is "ati"
    (==) Using default built-in configoration (53 lines)
    (EE) open /dev/fb0: No such file or directory
    (EE) R128(0): No DFP detected
    (EE) <defult pointer>: Cannot find which device to use.
    (EE) xf860penSerial: No device specified
    (EE) <default pointer>:cannot open device point
    (EE) PreInit failed for input device "<default pointer>"
    No core pointer

    Fatal server error:
    failed to initialize core devices

    When reporting----------------------------and so on

    Please can you tell me how to fix this without reinstalling Fedora and
    losing all my files. Thankyou very much, Alan
