nvidia drivers !
ok folks, i have mandrake 9.1 and i have downloaded the GLX and the KERNEL rpm packages from texstar. i installed them as root in (not logged into X) and when i go back into X and browse my files, nothing has been installed, and it says all packages have been installed when i try and run the rpm. Why's it saying its installed, when its not?

I'm confused, what card do you have and what drivers did you download?

(rpm -Uvh file.rpm)

<STATE_THE_OBVIOUS>
Have you done aorCode:rpm -q NVIDIA_GLX-2.4.21.0.25.2tex-4496.i586.rpm
? That'll check whether they are actually installed.Code:NVIDIA_kernel-2.4.21.0.25.2tex-4496.i586.

On the flipside, I think that one should always download the nvidia drivers from their website as a *.sh file. It's trivial to install it that way (assuming that you've got kernel sources preinstalled), and the only post-install hacking that needs to be done is to edit your XF86-Config file, removing some lines.[/code]
