Gnome 10 - Can't modify Applications menu
Alright, I've fully compiled and installed Gnome 2.10 (I think)
Applications menu can no longer be modified easily.
Currently it requires adding .desktop files to ~/.local/share/applications
The .desktop files specification is unclear and the "Categories" does not map directly to the Applications menu. Each time I add an application, I've to add it by hand, and that's a good 5-10 mins work.
Anyone has good solution to this? Why would they release this when any novice cannot edit the menu?
Of course, Gnome 2.10 user manual about this is simply cut and paste from 2.9. Which is no longer relevant.

I've got the same problem in my Ubuntu Hoary 5.04 rc install. The documentation hasn't been updated there either. It's very irritating to have to jump through hoops just to add an app to the menu
There are two major products that come out of Berkeley: LSD and UNIX. We don't believe this to be a coincidence.
