    Quote characters needing the 'space'



    Everytime I want to type ' or " I must press the spacebar as well, else I get those special characters like 'ë' or 'é'.
    I use my linux system to program, and I get annoyed when I have to type the extra space every time I need to create a string, a character or to initialize a list.

    Any way to get rid of it?

    I am using the Gnome desktop on a Mandrake distribution, soon to become a Fedora distribution.

    You have your keyboard/language set on English International. It should be English US
