    Gdesklets can be used in KDE, but would probably be slow and piggish because of all the Gnome dependancies - stuff that KDE doesn't use.

    It seems that the screens you are refering to some new projects that are implementing 3D in the desktop. I believe the desktop you're talking about is called Lokking Glass. Yeah, I read about it in a magazine. Some people at Sun are writing a 3D desktop in Java. Says you can get it on any distro.
