How do i....
how do i get linux to just boot to a comand prompt if i installed it to boot stright to the GUI some one tole me that this would speed up the system a little if you think this would help me let me know if not let me know how to still but let me know that it wont help. i dont do much command line stuff but i would like to get into it more..

You can do this by editing /etc/inittab and change "id:5:initdefault:" to "id:3:initdefault:". However, I don't really recommend using the text mode, due to its low resolution. The best way is simply to start up X and start some xterms from there. You can see so much more that way.
