NVIDIA GEFORCE 400 MX Driver- X Window needs to be shut down?
While trying to install some new drivers for my graphics card on Suse 9.1, I got it to run but then an error occured: cannot run in X Windows mode or something to that effect.
Does this mean I need to be in a pure command line environment like MSDOS without a GUI?
If so, how do I access this mode as my Suse 9.1 loads up and logs me straight in.

Yes, you need to be in the command line to install the nvidia driver. I'd suggest you follow this tutorial for more info.
