Fluxbox to Openbox
Hey everyone,
I just made the transition from Fluxbox to Openbox, and so far so good: I've converted my menu, ported my custom theme, and included my keybindings. Only two things remain:
1) Is there a way to specify something to run on startup in rc.xml? I'd really like to start gdesklets after Openbox so it doesn't get decorated...
2) Is there a way to make the menu and title bars of unfocused windows partially transparent like I could in Fluxbox? I liked the look I had...
Thanks!

For question #1, the .xinitrc file works well for me. Take a look here at #6:

Question #2... I don't use much transparency so someone else will have to chime in with help for that one.

I'd like it to start after Openbox, though. Otherwise, Openbox decorates all my desklets and they look terrible.

If you put the gdesklets startup command in your .xinitrc, then you might want to add something like
above that line. Then gDesklets will only start up five seconds later than OpenBox.Code:sleep 5s

Good tip, borromini... I wasn't aware of that one myself.

Thanks
. I autostart a few programs on my XFCE, and if it loads simultaneously with my desktop, sometimes the programs don't display because they need that graphical environment... So I tell them to wait a few secs
.

Hey, Javasnob... I like Fluxbox, but Openbox always feels a bit faster to me. Does it feel that way on your boxes, too?

Yeah, it does. I see a difference in memory comsumption, too.
