Setting DISPLAY variable for E17
Hello.
I recently installed Arch Linux and I want E17 instead of KDE.
KDE boots up just fine.
E17 on the other hand, does not.
I installed every package needed to run E17: eet, evas, ecore, embryo, edje and e in that order with pacman.
So I thought:
"Well that´s easy, what´s left is .xinitrc and I´m done."
No go
output:Code:startx
It redirects me to vc1.Code:DYNAMIC DETERMINED PREFIX: /opt/e17 E17: INIT: CHOSEN CINERAMA: [0], 1280x1024+0+0 waiting for xserver to shut down FreeFontPath: FPE "/usr/share/fonts/misc/" refcount is 2, should be 1; fixing.
So I made a small boot script in / to try to fix this problem.
like so:
Still no luck. It starts up the x server but not enlightenment (17).Code:X & sleep 5 DISPLAY=archbox:0 enlightenment
When I type this in the terminal:
It´s saying that I need to change the DISPLAY variable, problem is ... I can´t find the file which I´m supposed to edit to make E17 work properly. Google doesn´t find the information I need.Code:enlightenment
Another thing.
When I type:
in the CLI I get a GUI inlog screen (obviously) but I can´t log in with the user I created earlier nor with root. What to do to make kdm work like it´s supposed to?Code:kdm
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Rob.
