Adding desktop environment to preinstalled linux

    I'm very new to linux.

I'm using a Fedora Core 2 system for class.

I'm having to use Fedora Core 2 that was already provided without a graphical environment, and I can't reinstall FC2. How would I add a desktop environment like GNOME to the system?

You should just be able to do
    Code:
    yum install gnome
With FC2 you should already have Gnome though, as Gnome is the default.

Not sure just how new you are so this may be simplistic and I don't mean to offend. Did you type "startx" at your command prompt once you logged in?
