    Monitor outta sync on exiting X with nvidia


    i was using gentoo and for some reason when i exited x my computer would freeze... nothing i could do but hit the restart button. now running fedora it is doing the same thing... iwithout the nvidia driver (vesa) it works fine..... but what can this problem be. here is my log

    Are you using a fbdev? AFAIK, there is currently a known bug in the nVidia driver that makes it crash in conjunction with a fbdev.

    there is compiled support for it in the kernel.... do i need to recompile my kernel without it or can i disable it with a kernel line in grub ?

    I think there is a kernel command line option to disable that, but I don't seem to remember it right now, unfortunately.

    this only happens with the latest nvidia drivers 1.0-5336

    i went back to 1.0-5328 and problem solved
