KDM Themes
Is there theming capabilities in KDM, similar to what the current GDM can do? Or is there a better display manager that can do the fancy themes. Thats mainly what i am after, but i cant upgrade (not without extreme difficulty atleast) to the latest GDM (Stupid debian packaging system. Sure it never crashes, but i always am out of date)
Is there a better more themeable Display manager out there? BTW, i dont use gnome or kde, so any dependance like that doesnt really matter.

Use testing or unstable. Unstable always has the latest releases of packages.
I'm also going to recommend that you stay away from mixing releases. While it will work, it can cause more problems at times (speaking from experience). The best things in life are free.
