XGL is a new 3D desktop that was introduced by Novell (owners of SuSE). What 3D desktop were you referring to?Registered Linux user #270181

- 09-01-2006 #6XGL won't make KDE 3D, but it will render it in OpenGL and give you some different effects. If you want an actual 3D desktop (or something close to it) you might want to look at Project Looking Glass:

If you mean Xgl you can go to compiz.net and you will get a lot of nice tutorials specially for Ubuntu or Kubuntu. I have ran it on my machine (on fedora and ubuntu) and was pretty simple to get it working.
You don't need any new kernel module apart from the nvidia one.Put your hand in an oven for a minute and it will be like an hour, sit beside a beautiful woman for an hour and it will be like a minute, that is relativity. --Albert Einstein
